The following is a summary of the proposed habitual violent offender legislation:Read Allison's Story
- Offense must be offender's third violent felony
- A mandatory risk assessment is given at various points of the criminal justice process including when offender is charged, during his/her time in prison, before paroled.
- Offender would serve at least 85 percent of their sentence prior to becoming eligible for earned good time.
- Parole would last at least one year and would begin in a residential facility.
